Lactic acid builds up by working too long. Your muscles will force you too slow down because your muscles will have fatigue and sometimes you might get cramp. you might suffer from oxygen debt

Lactic acid is due, in part, to constant muscle contraction. Lactic acid is created when the muscle burns sugars (in whatever form) without the presence of oxygen, a process called anearobic metabolism. this may lead to muscle cramp.
now it is believed that lactic acid actually provides another fuel source for working muscles rather than impairing your muscles making your peformance better.
to develop a training programme you would recognise your lactic threshold and work just below it. this helps your body and muscles work safely and effeciently.

The expression “lactic acid” is used most commonly by athletes to describe the intense pain (cramps) felt during exhaustive exercise, especially in events like the 400 metres and 800 metres.
Latic acid is created when the muscle burns sugar without th presence of oxygen a process called anearobic metabolism which may lead to the strong, intense pain. cramps

If you exercise for too long, lactic acid builds up. This is because the muscle burns sugar without the presence of oxygen (anaerobic metabolism).
It will force you to slow down.
Developing a training programme would help becuae you are recognising your lactic threshold and you should work just below it. This helps your body and muscles work safely and effeciently.
