homework, podcast January 15th, 2008Listen to the following two podcasts for revision (they are only a couple of minutes long) and then answer the following questions for homework – due Monday 21st January.

1.Work muscle groups in short intervals at a high intensity at low repititions!
2.An increase in strength would help yer performance in an activity like basketball because it would allow you to maintain a stronger defensive stance!
3.In the long jump speed helps performance because it helps to get more height and distance in the jump.
4.A cricket player would require good arm speed because they would be able to throw the ball faster and it would make it harder for the batter to hit the ball. =\

6.stretching is very important because it reduces the chance of pulling or straining a muscle.
7.An increase in flexibility would help yer performance in the high jump because you would be able to arch yer back more.

1) Lifting heavy weights at short repititions will help to improve strength.
2) An increase in strength will give you a better performance in activities.
3) Basketball – Improving speed helped me get form one end of the court to the other faster.
4) A Cricket player would require good arm speed so that they could hit the ball as fast as they could so they do not miss the ball.
5) We would preform a test to measure power so that we know if we have to improve on it.
6) Stretching is very important so that we prepare our bodies for the activity, prevent injury or pulling a muscle and to practive a skill or technique for the activity.
7)Swimming- Back flexability would help a swimmer to push off giving them a good start for the rest of the length.

1. an effective training method to improve your strength is lifting heavy weights for short intervals.
2. an increase in strength helps your performance in an activity as it allows you to maintain a strong posture for example, in basketball whilst defending.
3. in badminton, speed helped my performance as it allowed me to reach a shot up the back of the court quickly thus i could return the shot well.
4. a cricket player would require good arm speed as the bowler needs to throw the ball very fast so the batter would have less chance of hitting it. vice verca.
5. we would perform a test to measure power.. ?
6. stretching is very important as it provents us from straining muscles and helps improve our flexibility.
7. in football, flexibility helped my performance as it allowed me to swing my hips far back and then forward which then made my kick more powerful.

1)lift heavy weights at low reps
2)it helps you to get more power eg.you can through a ball futher in basket ball
3)speed helps your perfomance in badminton because you can get about the court quickly to return the shuttle
4)a criket player would need good arm speed so he can swing the bat quick enough to hit the ball
5)streching is important so that when you do an activity you dont pull any muscles
7)in base ball having good shoulder fexibility would be good because you could a bigger swing which would hit the ball harder

1. An effective training method to improve strength is weight training (Heavy weight, low reps)
2. An increase in stength can help your performance in an activity because it means you will be able to give your maximum amount of force in a single effort.
3. Football, Speed helped me because I was able to beat my opponents to the football and I was also able to outrun the defenders.
4.Because he needs to hit the ball fast and hard.

7.High Jump. An increase in flexibility helped my performance because I was able to arch my back more to help me get over the bar.

1. weight training, high weights and low reps.
2. muscles can put more force into movements.
3. 100, sprint- the more speed i have the quicker i will run the 100m in
4. so he can throw the ball faster.
5. to see how much we need to improve on power.

7. gymnastics- greater flexibility will give a wider range of movement so the routine will look better

2.It helps yuo through the basketball further more power in your arms.
3.Speed in football to run past oppenenents and track back with defenders.

5.So yuo do not get injured in a game.
6.Gynastics gives you flexibility so you can move more freely.

3.in basketball improving my speed helped me get to the other end of the court and and get into a defensive position.
