Evaluating
bonus points, homework February 26th, 2008We have now moved on to the new topic of EVALUATING in PE.
Evaluating has 2 parts
- Describing a perfromance – which means stating what you see.
- Analysing a performance – which means studying the action closely to identify its good and bad points.
Leave a reply to this post – describe a shot in badminton, giving a clear detailed desciption of how you perform the action. For example you could describe a high serve, or an overhead clear or a smash. Think about the following when describing the performance.
- Body- Parts being used and the direction they move.
- Order – In what order do these parts move.
- Shape – what shape are the parts moved through (bent, straight, curled).
- Speed – At what speed do the movements take place.
To be completed by Monday 3rd March. Any problems to access blog see Mr Imrie by Friday 29th February.
Next week - Monday- Athletics; Tuesday – Gymnastics

Hi.
describe a shot in badminton – high serve. Stand on the serve line and drop shuttle with hand that’s not holding racket. Hit shuttle with racket with an underarm shot with a lot of power while keping your back straight and aim for the back of the court.

when you do an over head clear your move your arms your body is straight and you move the arms fast

A smash in badminton you use your arm moving in a upwards direction to reach shuttle then smash it in a downwards direction. At this point the shuttle will be going at a rather quick pase heading towards to the ground making it difficult for oppenent to get the shuttle back to u.And last of all the shape in which the parts are moving is a curl.

Overhead clear-
Step 1: Get back, beneath and behind the shuttle, as it falls into your court
Step 2:
Step your racquet foot back with most of your weight on it. Your non-racquet shoulder should point toward your target.
Step 3: Hold both arms up, with your racquet out behind you and your other arm out for balance.
Step 4:
Bend your racquet arm at the elbow so that your racquet head is about shoulder height behind you. Your racquet hand should be near your ear.
Step 5:
Start your swing by extending your arm while rotating to face your target. Keep your wrist cocked.
Step 6:
Snap your wrist to make contact with the shuttle, in front of your racket shoulder.
Step 7:
Hit with an open racket face, so the shuttle is fired high and deep into your opponent’s court.
Step 8:
Follow through, first by completely snapping your wrist and then letting your arm carry through the stroke.
Step 9:
Finish with your weight on your front foot.

OVERHEAD CLEAR –
To perfrom a overhead clear your legs have to be apart and your body slightly twisted to the one side and when the shuttle comes over from the other side you need to twist your body and raise the racket with your arm bent and then hit the shuttle with as much power as possible to get it to land at the back of the court.

overhead clear= you have to keep your eye on the shuttle at all times. you take a step back or to the side to get into the line of the shuttle. when you have done that you put most your weight on the back foot then spring up to connect with the shuttle andwhen done this ur finished stance should see you be your b ody stretched:))

high sevre= with the your spare hand drop the shuttle in front of you, while the shuttle is falling use your shoulder which is a ball and socket joint to swing your arm which has the racket all the way round until it makes contact with the shuttle, this is an under arm shot

backhand drive;;
to deliver an effective backhand drive i would have to co-ordinate my feet by placing my right foot diagonally infront of me and balancing most of my weight on this foot. then by twisting my whole body and extending my arm i would swing forward in a fast, swift motion so my shot is powerful. if this shot is played properly it should be able to reach the back end of the court.
