This week we have discussed feedback during our practical lessons. Feedback can be verbal, written or visual (a demonstration).

Describe one skill or technique where you have been given verbal, written or visual feedback and describe how it benefited you.

Once you have learned a new skill you need to practise it so that it becomes automatic and you do not need to think about it.

To practise skills a player will use a series of drills which concentrate on that skill.

Task

Choose an activity and a skill from that activity. Describe a drill you used in detail to practise that skill.

Skills and Techniques

Choose an activity that you have performed in PE this year. Name a particular skill and then technique that you used when performing this activity.

Finally write a short paragraph describing this technique. Use the following when describing your technique

  • Preperation
  • Action
  • Recovery

This task is set for Homework and has to be completed by the end of the holiday.

Hi class,

Please note change of activities to PE classes -

  •  Monday will be Gymnastics - boys gym, floor work.
  •  Tuesday will be Gymnastics – girls gym, apparatus.

Your task today is, with your partner, begin to design a floor routine that you will start to perform in Monday’s class. Your routine should include the following

  1. Balances.
  2. Rotation.
  3. Flight.
  4. Change of direction.
  5. Inversion.

Leave a comment to this post describing your routine. Think about BOSS (body, order, shape, speed) when you are describing your movements.

To be finished as homework for Monday 10th March.

  1. Choose an aspect of fitness and describe (in detail) how you would test this aspect of fitness.
  2. Once you have performed a fitness test it is then advised that you train for a period of time and then re-test to see if you have improved this aspect of fitness. Describe in detail (using Principles of Training) how you would train to improve this aspect of fitness.

Training sessions may vary from one activity to another, but there are basic principles which should be applied. Choose an activity (not basketball) and make up a training session for that activity under the following headings.

  1.  Warm up
  2. Fitness work
  3. Skills work
  4. Game situation
  5. Warm down

After completing the Aspects of Fitness Revision sheet in class, research and complete the following questions regarding Principles of Training.

Q – What is meant by Specificity in terms of a physical fitness training program?

Q – What is meant by Progressive overload with regard to training?

Q – Explain why Frequency, Intensity and Duration are important for a training program?

Q – Design a one week training program for a basketball player and include all the above Principles of training. The program can be designed to improve any aspect of fitness you feel is necessary for a basketball player. (Remember to include 2 rest days and Saturday is match day).

HOMEWORK - Homework for this week is complete all the above questions. This is to be handed in or completed on the blog by Monday 14th January. If you do not have access to the blog at home, take a note of the questions you do not get completed in class and complete on paper or your PE jotter.

After completing the work set in class, answer the questions below to gain some points, remember questions will be posted every week on the blog that all count towards the Scoreboard- some may be hidden… (Do not let Scott win the prize again in January!).

1. Explain when you would require strength and when you would require speed in Basketball.

3. Can you find out what the following mean-

If I do not see you Thursday or Friday, then have a great Crimbo. Do not eat too much as when we return we have 3 more weeks of basketball and then it is GYMNASTICS!

Today we will be examining Cardio Respiratory Endurance and Local Muscular Endurance in more detail. We will be learning today how to test, train and improve our CRE and LME.

If you finish the worksheet provided in class you will be asked to complete the following questions (leave your answer to this post)

  • Design a program for a basketball player that includes 30 mins CRE work and 5 different exercises to do for a LME circuit.
  • Can you describe 3 formal rules of Basketball.
